It's been a hot minute, but I have finally found a moment to write a review on a bag that I have been very excited about. The Greta Work Tote by Pixie Mood.
I saw this bag in Ash Plum originally at Below the Belt and fell in love. But when I went back to purchase it, they had sold out!
Why? The roominess, the perfect size for my laptop, mouse, and accessories, along with my Wacom Tablet, and a separate sleeve for files. It has a slot for a water bottle, pens, my wallet, receipt book, and everything that I had been struggling to fit in my current computer bag.
I had never owned a Pixie Mood bag before but had seen their products at several stores and knew that they were a vegan company. With a 100% Cruelty-Free Guarantee. Also, they are a Canadian brand, so I really felt good about supporting something local and not converting prices from USD to CAD for once. Of course, I wasn't expecting something on the same level as my Mansur Gavriel bag and backpack for quality... but it definitely met my high hopes of being on the same quality level as Matt N Nat, whose designs haven't disappointed me yet!
I did some research and after watching a ton of review videos on the company, I realized that there were none of this particular bag. Also, Pixie Mood's website doesn't seem to feature the interior on any of the Greta Work Tote bags... and Amazon doesn't show it either... for some strange reason.
Anyways, I decided to sit and think about it, but Google kept updating me on the prices and making custom ads to remind me of the bag, so when my Mama asked me what I wanted for a gift... this was at the top of my list. I am super pleased with it in the nude Pink.
I really enjoy the interior of this bag as well. According to user reviews of other Pixie Mood bags, their signature interior color is a royal purple color, so I felt quite satisfied with the light and pretty pattern on the inside of this bag.The removable shoulder strap adjusts to various lengths, depending on how you like to wear it. Or remove it for a more business/briefcase look.
It's structured and stands in perfect shape even when empty, the lovely metal feet on the bottom keep the bottom of the bag off the floor, to help avoid dirt... which for this color of the bag I think it a very good addition to the bag.
The PU leather actually feels high quality... which I have to admit I did have my doubts. I am looking forward to seeing how it keeps up with my busy lifestyle. I will have to also update this blog on how it stays clean.
Pixie Mood also included a free gift with the purchase, a lovely little card wallet that again is made out of PU leather and cork (which again is another great material) if you are trying to stay environmentally friendly.
So my closing feelings on this bag would be that for the price point $60 on sale or $97 at full price, it is a good quality bag with a lot of room for my life. They have quite a large variety of bags, in beautiful styles for every fashion preference and I am sure that I will be purchasing more from this company.

Hello Lovelies,
I had the joy of meeting up with Vinod Varma from Shout and Shout awhile ago. He had reached out to me over Instagram and the concept of his company interested me enough to meet up and find out what he was so eager to share with me.
When I arrived at the cafe and finally met up with him. I was drawn by his energy and drive. He was genuinely excited to tell me about Shop and Shout, a project that's concept was simple, yet effective.
A website that brands could reach out to that would help them connect with local Influencers in their area over Social Media and said Influencers could then test out the products and services and write honest reviews and thoughts on the products.
ShopandShout.com (a concept developed in 2016 by Vinod and Laura, and launched the first beta site up in early 2017) works as the bridge between everyday influencers and brands, bringing in real people who aren't being paid in huge ad campaigns to give their honest opinions of the brands that they choose or qualify to work with. This offers security to consumers, that the people that they follow are giving them an authentic review of products or local services that they could try today or in the future.
I myself tried out ShopandShout.com by working with them and a local grocery company named SPUD.ca who offers a 100% satisfaction guarantee with their organic and healthy food that is delivered straight to your door!
What I got from Spud.ca
I can say that I was extremely pleased with this trial service. I honestly got some of the best tasting organic food that I've had in awhile.
It was nice to know that there was a local company near me that I could use if I ever didn't have time to go shopping on my own that I could just have quality food shipped straight to my door.
Needless to say, I fully support Vinod's goal of being able to reach out to more local influencers, I want to watch the company flourish and eventually reach the milestone of being able to become a Canada-wide service.
Social Media Influencers should definitely check out the site and see what offers that they could qualify for based on their followers and friend counts. It could translate into some seriously amazing deals!
I think what I enjoyed the most about my talk with Vinny, was when he told me about how whenever Shop and Shout reached 5000 Influencers he and Laura want to sponsor a classroom overseas with school supplies and over needs.
This meant a lot to me since too many times we see companies not choosing the route of giving back to the world or trying to make a positive difference in the communities, cities or countries around them. I have seen the difference first hand when I went to the Philippines how just a little care and love change the schools and children attending there... the gift of knowing that there are people out there who care about them. Also, in being a mother, I understood the impact a mission like this would mean to the parents in these countries. A little less for them to worry about so they can focus on providing for their children at home.
We also spent some time lamenting together how sad it has been watching local businesses struggle to survive in a city like Vancouver. Small "Mom and Pop" businesses are being pushed out for bigger corporations who can afford the skyrocketing rental prices downtown... even though these businesses have been there for years, they are struggling to survive and need new ways to promote themselves. Vinny works with these types of companies to get the word out about them!
I asked Vinny if I could send him a small interview and have him fill out the answers, he was more than enthusiastic to help me. So without further ado, here are his honest and unfiltered responses.
Tell me a little bit about your background, where did you get the concept and how did you get started with Shop and Shout?
After barely graduating high school lol I put in the time, and made it out. I ended up moving to the Interior to attend TRU, where i graduated with a double major bachelor of business. i spent about 6 years there where i went to school and worked for a few different companies before deciding to pursue an opportunity to work for Best Buy's head office.
I Learned a great deal while working with some of the worlds best brands, and was blessed to be mentored by some exceptionally talented individuals. I learned some awesome marketing methodologies...and I always admired the simplicity and effectiveness of influencer marketing.
I guess this was kind of the first spark for ShopandShout.
What was your first big break?
Haha I don't think we've had a big break yet, we're just getting started! :) I'm pretty lucky to have met such a supportive business partner who just "get's it" in Laura.
We've been lucky to this point to get this far, that's for sure. I think we were always confident in our abilities and our vision / goals for the company... But the development cycle is risky, lengthy, and unpredictable.
I know your website talks about working with smaller influencers, why do you think that they can make a bigger impact for companies?
Yeah, we tend to focus on engaging "everyday influencers" who have authority in their space. Their relationships tend to be more personal with their following, and therefore, they build more trust with their followers. When they speak about a brand that they have chosen to support - their following listens because they understand this person's business is their reputation. They choose to work with brands that mesh with their social values, and benefit their followers. So it makes it easier to attract these influencers in our no pressure environment, where they can basically "shop" at their convenience for brands that they would like to support.
We don't represent our influencers like an agency - we've created an open marketplace where they can shop for products and services, from brands that they want to support, using their social following as currency. It's a unique concept from anyone else doing influencer marketing.
When did you start ShopandShout and what is your end goal?
We started the concept, and incorporated with a basic game plan about a year ago. We took our time creating the vision and business plan, and finding the necessary talent it would take to help build our vision. We did a beta launch of our marketplace in May 17' after beginning development in December 16'. We were quite happy with the way things have turned out so far.
The end goal is to build an amazing marketplace where everyday influencers get to experience awesome brands by agreeing to share shout-outs about the brand with their following. Effectively monetizing their social channels. We want it to be open for any and all influencers, on more social channels. We also want to pursue awesome modern brands that understand the value in these influencers, the efficiency provided by our platform, and who understand the advantages our social dashboard provides them with.
We believe in listening to our users, so the functionality of our platform will be molded by our users as we progress. Both influencers and brands alike - our development path will be based on their feedback as we pursue our vision of building an incredible open marketplace where brands and everyday influencers create synergy at scale.
What were you doing before you dove into this?
I was a Buyer for Best Buy, and worked as a Director of Operations for a year where I learned amazing operational disciplines, and logistics best practices, I also observed what not to do in marketing lol.
What is it that keeps you motivated to make this business work?
A few things, I believe in our platform's ability to deliver value to small / medium sized brands. I believe in empowering these brands with our platform, giving them an edge in today's competitive market where cash is often king. The brands we've partnered with who are experiencing success seem to really enjoy our service and how easy our platform is to use. So, it's motivating to keep going when people like it.
I also love how we help influencers monetize their social media (in the form of free products and services) I've seen how hard they work hard to keep their following engaged! It's great that our site helps alleviate some of the costs of living for them once in awhile. I think UBER and AirBandB have built their success on convenience for the customer, and monetizing the supplier. Which is essentially what we've done, which gets me excited.
In addition to that, we have strong corporate values about giving back. And we give more, as we become more successful. So...sometimes, some days are tougher than others, having a greater cause helps keep me motivated. Always knowing that there is always someone having a rougher day than you, it's a blessing to be able to give back this early in our company.
How to you advertise your business to potential clients? What makes you different and special from other companies that try to offer the same services?
We call them :). We want to uphold the integrity of our marketplace, so we are somewhat selective on the brands we work with. We want to ensure that they mesh well with the Influencers we have, and that we are able to deliver based on their needs and expectations.
What makes us unique is our marketplace, and our self-serve dashboard that we set up.
Our marketplace saves time, and complicated negotiations, and logistics with influencers. Influencers and small/medium businesses just don't have the time or resources for that!
Our dashboard is unique, as it provides the ability to monitor social campaigns, within and independent of the Shopandshout marketplace. It also allows brands to manage their own social media, meaning it gives them all their channel insights + it allows them to create, schedule, and publish posts on all their social accounts from one easy box.
And from what we know...it's less expensive then typical influencer solutions.
You talked a little with me about how you want to be able to sponsor a classroom once you hit 5000 influencers. What made you come up with this concept and what will you do once you hit that mark? Will you find new avenues to be charitable?
Yeah, at every 5000 influencers we will be sponsoring a classroom overseas with supplies and student aid. This is done in partnership with World Vision Canada. We knew we wanted to do something to give back, both Laura and I believe it's important. It would be great to influence a group of students to overcome the struggle they are in via an education. We will always be on the lookout for new avenues to be charitable...it might be a classroom for this first 5000 influencers, and maybe we'll do something different for the next 5000? We'll put out a survey :)
Do you plan to stick with working with smaller local businesses only and take on just a few bigger companies in the future... or do you see yourself geared towards the businesses that you feel help make Vancouver and the local area more of a community.
We will work with any brand that see's value in working with our influencers, and our platform. It's a two-way street though, so we do our best to make sure that the brands who join add value to the influencers shopping in our marketplace. We love the idea of supporting local business - so as we expand and have companies based across Canada - we will have influencers in those areas as well, who support their own local brands! We want to be the marketplace where local influencers can experience local brands, as we grow, our marketplace will need to have more localization features built into it.
We want to grow at home though, and anticipate we will be growing our Vancouver office and hiring Vancouvorites to start our growth journey.
How do you guarantee that influencers will do the promised promotion? So companies don't worry about losses.
During the checkout process, influencers input their card information just like any other shopping website. We authorize the card for the value of the good, but don't charge anything. Once the shout-out is 100% complete, we release the hold. (our backend monitors this so we can release the hold as soon as the shout-out is complete).
So far "knock-on-wood" we haven't charged any Influencers, which I think speaks to the quality of influencers we've managed to attract thus far.
Do you see this company expanding Canada-wide or even into the US? Or do you plan on staying centralized in the Vancouver area?
We will definitely go Canada wide, and into the US. Think groupon, only there is no money exchanged, and brands aren't forced to diminish the value of their goods for a sale. Instead brands use the collective voice of real people to advocate on their behalf.
_________________________________________________________
So there you have it, I HIGHLY recommend that if you are a blogger, or Social Media influencer of any kind in Canada, reaching out to Vinod at ShopandShout.com and start working on a fantastic collaboration opportunity. I haven't regretted the friendship I have made with Vinny. I can only hope that you will find a good friend and business partner in him and his company as well!
He has been extremely patient in waiting for me to finish this blog post! xD
Love,

Faulkner and Co. 136 E. Hastings, Vancouver BC
So when James contacted me and the words "Vintage", "Consignment", "British", and "Quality" popped up in the email, I was immediately intrigued! We planned a meetup, which obviously went swimmingly because I am sitting here typing out why you should give this shop a visit if you're in the Vancouver area.
![]() |
Entering Faulkner and Co/ Push Pull Cafe
When you first enter the store, you will be greeted on the street level by a lovely little coffee shop called the Push Pull Cafe. It is closed on Sundays, so I wasn't able to sample their beverages, but I will say that it is a cafe that I have heard of before, the flow between cafe and clothing shop blends very well and the theme of minimalism gives the space a zen atmosphere.
James greeted my friends, son, and I very warmly. He was quite busy working on new opportunities for the shop but made sure that we had what we needed and I started browsing the products for the store.
At the time he was curating a collection of personally pulled, well kept, pre-loved vintage clothing of excellent quality. He was in the middle of waiting for his imported clothing from the UK to make it past customs.
James explained his vision for the store to be eventually known as one of Vancouver's best quality consignment shops, that carries hand-selected, high-quality items from the UK, Europe, USA, and Canada. Partnering with emerging talented designers in the Vancouver area whose designs match his aesthetic and contemporary vision. Working together with these people would open doors in various ways to reach the various and many fashion lovers in Vancouver.
I found Faulkner and Co refreshing, and I could see it thriving in this city. The area it is in is not far from Gastown, and it is right downtown Vancouver which gives the store an edge.
Also the whole prospect of being able to find a home for your own pre-loved and quality clothing. Yes, that's right Faulkner and Co. will work with you in appraising your items that you bring in and see if it is a good fit for the store. Items that are chosen will be sold in the store, at which time 40% of the proceeds will be added as a balance owing to yourself. If an item is not sold within 30 days it will be sold at 20% off the appraised price. After 90 days the clothing will be donated to charity. At the end of every month, you will be notified of your balance and a cheque will be placed on file for you to pick up.The types of clothing that Faulkner and Co are looking for are those that are of British, American, or Canadian heritage and makes. They want fabrics that are pure, such as Leather, Denim, Wool, Silk, Cotton, or Linen.
This process ensures that Faulker and Co can keep the quality and aesthetic that they are trying to build so you can always be sure that you are buying clothes that help fund local business owners and are taking the time to make the community around them a better and more caring place.
The quality of the garments that James has found and placed in the store is a welcome change to the fast fashion that many of us fall victim to. Faulkner and Co. clothes show their worth with a look and feel that you just can't find in regular stores.

James Faulkner: Hard at Work.
I find that all the vintage and vintage inspired pieces that are in the store, want to tell me a story... some pieces I may even want to come along and write mine.
I look forward to seeing Faulkner and Co. grow as a company. I hope that it flourishes and shines. I am especially looking forward to seeing what James brings in from his native UK as well. I am sure that will be a treat!
If you ever find yourself close by, maybe grab a coffee from the Push Pull Cafe, and explore the racks, you might just find your own hidden gem. With the racks consistently cycling through with new and vintage clothes, you will always know that there just might be something undiscovered everytime you happen to pass by.
Give them a like and a follow on their Instagram!

Hello, Lovelies,
So I decided to answer a few
questions that people had/have been asking me about my job.
Yes, I work in the BC Film Industry in
Vancouver. I started it last year and have kind of been hooked ever since.
I am what is called a Set Dec Coordinator,
I assist the Set Decorator with making sure all the paperwork is taken care of
between vendors and the accounting office. I make sure that deliveries and drop
offs are done on time by our delivery workers, keep track of our budget, making
sure that we aren’t going over and letting the Decorator know when we have
money for something or if we have to cut spending. I make sure people’s
timesheets are submitted so that they get paid and sometimes I even help with
decorating if they need me. It is not an easy job though, so don’t get the idea
that it is.
Film hours can be long. My work day can be
anywhere from 8 hours to over 20. Sometimes I get paid overtime, and sometimes
I don’t. It all depends on what kind of show I am working on. I am currently
working on movies that are considered NON-UNION, which means that I have less
rights and I am on my own when it comes to approaching production companies if
I feel like I am treated unfairly, however we do however still have contracts
and rights within those contracts that we can bring up. You just have to know
what is in the fine print and how to deal with the people you’re working with.
I would say that so far my experience in
this industry has been positive, with only slight bumps so far. But I have
learned so much from it and feel like working in film brings out the drive in
me, I feel like I function in a higher capacity in this type of job than in any
other work that I’ve worked in. Probably because of the workload I carry.
Why film? Well there was multiple driving
reasons as to why I entered the film industry. Firstly, one of my closest
friends worked in film and raved to me about how I should pursue it! Secondly,
when I first entered I was a complete newbie and didn’t have a clue where to
start, but I was so scared about getting off of maternity leave and going back
to retail that I felt like anything might be better… and I would probably
regret it if I didn’t at least try it out. Thirdly, the rush… really there is
nothing like it that I have ever experienced. Everything is so fast paced and
sometimes it feels like the days blur together… but after my first few months
in film… I already had graphics and art in the two films I had worked on and
had helped designed sets as well. Then when you step back and watch the
finished product you can’t help but breathe in and revel in seeing all that
work you did turn into something amazing… or sometimes not amazing but knowing
you worked on it… now that’s satisfying. Fourthly, the pay is nothing to snivel
at… definitely worthwhile… knowing that by working on one or two movies
depending on the length will pay me more than a part-time retail job will in a
whole year… now that’s super motivating. Also knowing that you can take huge
chunks of time off if you want too is also such a benefit, especially if you
have children you want to spend time with… like me.
It’s hard, being away as much as I am from
my son, but knowing that when a show ends I can take maybe a month or two off
and just focus on him… that’s a nice thought… maybe go travel somewhere nice?
I see film as fun, but very hard work,
that pays well for the hard work that you put in. I couldn’t be more thankful
for the people I have met, for the jobs that I have had, or the experiences I
wouldn’t have gone through had I not been in film.
Now I am currently working on a film and
studying to enter union so I can be looked after better, as well as my family,
get paid more, and maybe work on some films you’ll actually see in Theatres!
Till then I will keep puttering away,
growing and learning more and more!
XoXo,
Hadessah

Hello, Lovelies!
I am so excited today! The reason is because I passed my MOTION PICTURE INDUSTRY ORIENTATION COURSE TEST!
"What's the big deal?" You might be asking...
Well as some of you know, I work in the BC Film Industry as a Set Dec Coordinator for full shows and occasionally as a Graphic Artist or Set Dresser for day calls, if they need me. So before I took this test I could only work for NON-UNION shows, which would be explained as a B-Movie, like movies for the Hallmark Channel, the most recent movies I have worked on that I can name is A Christmas Angel, and Love on the Sidelines.
This test was the last step of me being able to apply for Union (ACFC/IASTE 891) Which once accepted into a Union, I could then be hired on for (A) Movie like Deadpool or Captain America, anything that would be seen in theatres or popular TV Series like Once Upon a Time, or Bates Hotel... etc.
So now I just have to be accepted into a Union! I have currently applied for ACFC and will know the first week of March whether I have been accepted as a permittee member or not! I will also be submitting my application to IATSE as soon as next week.
Anyways, I passed my test with a score of 48/50, so I can keep my mama proud with keeping my 90% on my first test since high school!
I will have to admit that the course itself can be repetitive and kind of redundant at times, but I learned a lot and feel even more prepared for my career in film.
I am incredibly blessed for the start that I had in the film industry. My Set Decorator and Assistant Set Decorator have been two of the most encouraging people I have met in the industry, they gave me so many great opportunities, believing in me and coaching me! Now I have a great resume to apply to unions with. God has been good!

Good Afternoon Lovelies!
I thought I would post a little bit about the makeup/cosmetic haul that I had yesterday.
My aunt and I where in the Hudson's Bay and discovering this cute little Facial Cream by TonyMoly. It is a brightening facial cream, for those who feel like they have dull skin, and also tightens the skin on the face. I tried this out this morning and it feel great on the face! Hudson's Bay carries it for $20 regularly, but is having a sale on it currently for $15.
Secondly, later that day I had to run in quickly into London Drugs, with just the intent of stocking up again on my favorite NYX Eyeliner, Collection Noir (Retails for about $8) and I came across this awesome deal for a NYX Staple Beauty Palette on sale for $24, normally they sell for $48! So, I scooped it up since I had been eyeing the contour palette, and not only was contour included, but so was eye shadow, blush, lip gloss, basic pencil eyeliner, eye brow pencil, mascara, and 2 applicator brushes. All in all a really good deal from NYX!
I will try using these products for a week before I make a video review for the palette and the cream, I want to see it is really will whiten my skin, and how durable the palette is.

I had a wonderful surprise date day with my hubby.
We hadn't gone on a date alone together in months and it's amazing how much you don't realize how it affects you emotionally. We spend so much time throughout the day making sure that our 1 year old is taken care of and feels loved, but you definitely have to make time for each other to feel connected.
So I thank my amazing cousin for allowing us to be able to spend time alone together. She's amazing!

Today was full of fun adventure!
We started the date with travelling down to downtown Vancouver to the Milestones on Robson St. There I had a tasty Chopped Salad with a delicious Bellini. After that we window shopped and traversed all around downtown. We even found this fantastic Japanese convenience store and bought some ONIGIRI (Rice Balls)
We then went to the new mall by the airport called McArthurGlen Shopping Outlet, where we found a Gigantic Box of Lindt Chocolates for like $15 and some Star Wars Vans for the little one He's gonna be so cute!
Anyways it was raining all day so I think I am coming down with a cold. :(
Cheers!
